The sun was shining brightly this past Sunday, and we decided it was the perfect day to visit Zoo Antwerpen. It had been a while since our last visit, so I was excited to explore the zoo with my camera gear in tow. I packed my Nikon Z8 with the new NIKON Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR lens, along with my Nikon Z50 and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Nikon Z.
As we strolled through the zoo, we came across a Pygmy Marmoset, a cute little monkey-like animal. It was a delight to photograph, and I managed to get some great shots. Next, we encountered an Abdim Stork, and I was able to capture some stunning images of this elegant bird.
One of the highlights of the day was the rhino, which was sprinting around in its enclosure. Unfortunately, I was just a bit too late to capture the action, but I did manage to get a close-up shot with the Nikon Z8 and the NIKON Z 180-600mm.
From there, we made our way to the lions. They had just been fed some delicious rabbits, and the alpha male was trying to steal food from the others. I took some nice shots of the lions with the Nikon Z8 and the NIKON Z 180-600mm. After they finished eating, the lions started resting, and just as I was about to leave, I spotted a Kingfisher sitting on the rock of the lions' enclosure. It was quite a distance away, so I had to put my Nikon Z8 and NIKON Z 180-600mm in DX mode to get the Kingfisher in the frame properly.
Overall, it was a fantastic day at Zoo Antwerpen. The combination of beautiful weather and fascinating animals made for a memorable photography experience. I can't wait to go back and capture even more amazing moments.
